Journal 4 (2008-2009)

This is my favorite journal that captures a special time in my life: senior year of high school. Similar to Journal 3, it tracks a progression of my style in vivid detail. I explore themes of environmentalism, technology, family, depression, youth, joy, and beauty. Also, I was inspired by the poetry in Jim Morrison’s An American Prayer which influenced my writing style, and I combined poems with some of my art.

Journal 3 (2008)

This journal shows a clear progression from clean line art to improvised color and ink sketching. At first, I sought to attach my pop art style to abstract messages. I discovered an aesthetic in Explode that attracted me: ink sketch over blended marker. This style - abstract psychedelic art - invites improvisation and became my main practice in the years to come.

Journal 2 (2007-2008)

I start to explore conceptual art with a specific theme: conformity. I use elements of pop and minimalism to develop an aesthetic toward psychedelic art.

Journal 1 (2006-2007)

The beginning of my artistic development. Mostly practice of a pop art style.
